Who we are
Reel Meals (reel-meals.com) is a meal planning app that helps you turn Instagram recipe Reels into weekly meal plans and shopping lists. We are a small independent app.
What data we collect
When you create an account, we collect your email address to identify you. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google. We store your pantry ingredients and saved preferences so they sync across your devices. If you choose macro targeting, those preferences may include height, weight, age, activity level, goals, and estimated daily nutrition targets. We do not collect payment information directly — payments are handled by Stripe if applicable.
How we use your data
Your email is used to identify your account and send authentication links. Your pantry data and preferences are used to generate meal plans, grocery lists, and estimated nutrition targets. We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.
Third-party services
We use the following third-party services: Supabase for authentication and database storage, OpenAI to extract and generate recipes, Apify to read Instagram Reels, USDA FoodData Central for nutrition data, Walmart Affiliate API for shopping cart integration, and Open Food Facts for barcode lookups. Each service has its own privacy policy.
Data storage
Your account data is stored in Supabase, hosted in the United States. Pantry items and preferences are tied to your account. If you use the app without an account, data is stored only in your browser's local storage and is never sent to our servers.
Your rights
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us. You can also clear your pantry from within the app at any time. If you used the app without signing in, clearing your browser's local storage removes all data.
Cookies
We use cookies only for authentication purposes (to keep you signed in). We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.
